From my understanding (which means I really don’t know specifically but I’m trying to fake it), the 20 percent rule was in place for a while. I’m not sure if that was a Bowlsby or Bump Elliott provision.

Iowa had more leverage than ISU in the recent negotiation. Both schools wanted to play each other, but Iowa wanted out of the 20 percent rule. Iowa’s administration tolerated it until the $90 ticket situation two years ago. Iowa even lost substantially from its 20 percent of the gate during that game because of a smaller crowd.

Herkuleez is exactly right. Let’s start a series with Nebraska instead. There is something to gain by winning that game and it’s not as damaging to lose.

Scott, do you know why that 20% provision was in the contract in the first place?

Was Iowa State ever in a position of leverage in negotiating the terms of the contract?

We…(IOWA)…would be better off dropping this series. It’s really a no-win situation and from the looks of it, and the Clones have a win-win-win $ituation.
